Ocracoke Inlet from Silver Lake

This route is included in the downloadable file of NSA Routes. However, It is not yet included in tabular form here. Instead, it is shown in graphic form.

The route follows a bouyed channel from Silver Lake to the inlet, but neither the bouys nor the channel show up on the chart. In other words, the channel that is shown on the charts HAS CHANGED AND IS IN A DIFFERENT PLACE, AND THE BOUYS ARE NOT CHARTED! Nonetheless, the channel from Silver Lake to the inlet is clearly marked, and very easy to follow.

From the inlet to Portsmouth, the channel is generally shown on the chart (except the part right at the inlet), and there are no bouys.

This route (shown as a broad purple line) was taken from a track (shown as dots connected) that was recorded as Capt. Austin took us from Portsmouth to Silver Lake on April 19, 2003.
